Suzanne writes in saying Cafe Notte, 1626 Second Avenue (near 84th), finally opened its doors earlier this week. Hhhmmm, why do I suspect it's going to be exactly like DT-UT, just more expensive? Anyone been in? The comments are open and ready for any insight on the new set-up.

it is nothing like DTUT because it's going for the more sophisticated crowd. I had a nice glass of wine and meal there the other night. Waitstaff was a bit too eager (and there were too many of them) but environment was nice and relaxed.
I still long for a coffee bar with filthy comfortable chairs though . . .

I went to Cafe Notte on Friday night with a friend of mine. We sat at the bar and had a great time. They have an extensive wine list, including a list of 40 bottles under $40. Its very spacious with tables, bar seating and sofas.

My gf and I checked it out after the giants game on sunday. Very nice space, exposed brick, deep space that goes back with a lounge feel. Good low key lighting and ample bar space. A sophisticated environment that is so well needed in this frat row market. Hey at least its not another dumb ass diner thank god.
this spot may give Pudding Stone some competition.

Went to Cafe Notte last night for a quick glass of wine while we waited for a table at Poke around the corner. It's going to be a great spot. It's much bigger than the other wine bars recently opened on the UES, it's got a large bar you can sit at or a slew of tables and a few couches as well. They also had a menu with paninis, salads and tapas. It has more of the vibe of a place you would make a night of rather than some of the other wine bars that you would maybe have a glass or two with a friend and on then on to the rest of your evening.
