While it may initially sound like a terrible marketing ploy, you must admit the idea of running a Boston-themed bar in New York is one ballsy move. And in recent years, its probably a move that boosts the bottom-line, especially on nights like tonight ā the kick-off of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Colorado Rockies.
Here's a list of Red Sox themed bars around the city to watch the game, including the UES's Pat O'Brien's on 88th and Second. If you haven't given this bar a shot yet: think dive bar with a dash of Irish pub, offering the aesthetic stylings of a die-hard Boston fan on a budget. The walls are plastered with makeshift posters -- cut-outs from newspapers, various memorabilia ā paying tribute to the B.C. Eagles, the Bruins, Patriots, Celtics and the Red Sox. You can get more info here.
For you Rockies fans, I did some digging and Iām not sure if there's a dedicated Colorado bar (if anyone knows of one, please shoot me an email). Again, probably not the best marketing ploy. But the UES, obviously, has no shortage of bars. Here are a few playing the game; Jack Russell's, Blondie's, Bar Coastal.
