Dinner at Uva (on 2nd btw 78th and 77th). Last night. Pretty great. That's the herb crusted salmon with spinach above, and the pasta ribbons sauteed with ragout of veal and montasio cheese in the back of it, which was preceded by grilled shrimp skewer over a plum tomato, avocado and palmito salad. The spot was mobbed prompting one patron to attribute it to the that fact that Uva is "as close to a downtown place you'll find up here." Whatever the reason -- the food is great; service, eh, OK; but it's brutally loud every time I'm in there. Luckily, last night must have been in the 50s (thanks global warming!) so they broke out the outdoor tables.

Totally agree. As much as I like the look and the food, I don't go as often as I would like because of the brutal noise...always walk out with a headache.
